Volunteer with
Care Home Friends

Find out more about volunteering with us

Many of our volunteers say that they get out as much as they put in to their volunteering. We asked our volunteers what they get out of volunteering, here's what they said:

"
Feeling of giving back to the community and having a purpose "
"I really enjoy my time volunteering and I find the experience very uplifting"

Enid, one of our volunteers, put it this way, "because my life is quite busy, it's like an oasis of peace."

Our volunteers have a real impact on care home residents too:

"Mary has become a true friend ... one particular memory that sticks with me from this year was when we discovered a box of memories full of diaries, letters, photos and other treasures! We found beautiful handwritten poems and drawings that her husband had sent to her in their early years of courtship and marriage - poems that were written so beautifully and with such love .... We both cried sad and happy tears for that matter and discussed how lucky it is to love and be loved so."

"I brought in my dog. All the residents loved her and really engaged with both her and me."

If you become a Care Home Friends volunteer, we'll ensure that you receive the training you need, so that you can feel confident about what to expect, before you ever set foot in a care home.

Every volunteer is supported by the local project Champion, as well as having support from the Care Home Friends team.
There's always someone you can ask about any questions you may have - via our Facebook page, by phone or by email.
If you'd like to find out more, please contact your church Champion.
If your church doesn't yet have a Champion, perhaps you'd consider helping get a project started at your church. It only takes 2-3 people to start a project.

"It's a great way to unwind after a long week as the conversations we have are lighthearted and funny"

"I have found volunteering really rewarding. Often the room comes to life when I arrive and I can see how much of a difference I am making in people's lives"
